M3 Weekend Closures

MESSAGE FROM BALFOUR BEATTY

Dear Sir/Madam,

As you are aware we have undertaken additional planned maintenance work and renewal of a large amount of existing infrastructure, as part of the smart motorway works, this work continues following the completion of the main construction of smart motorway on 30 June 2017.

As part of the additional works we are carrying out, we are planning to carry out full depth low noise resurfacing on the M3 junction 4 northbound entry slip road. This low noise resurfacing work contributes towards Highways England’s commitment to reduce the impact of roads on surrounding local communities as outlined in the Road Investment Strategy. The new surfacing will also improve the driver experience and journey quality as they drive through this stretch of the network.

The work will involve two consecutive weekend closures of the M3 junction 4 northbound entry slip road which are planned to take place from:

  • 9pm Friday 8 September 2017 until 5.30am Monday 11 September 2017
  • 9pm Friday 15 September 2017 until 5.30am Monday 18 September 2017.

Full depth resurfacing work is weather dependent. Should weather conditions prevent this work from going ahead on the planned dates, there are three contingency weekend dates planned in order to complete these works; which are Friday 15 September to Monday 18 September, Friday 23 September to Monday 25 September 2017 and Friday 29 September to Monday 2 October 2017.

Please see attached notification list of M3 Closures:

Notification List of M3 Junctions 2 to 4a Closures 1 – 18 September 2017

We would be grateful if you could distribute this information as much as possible within your organisation as we are keen to reach as many members of the travelling public as we can.

Thank you very much for your help.
